About the plant: Wintergreen is a member of the Heather family.
It is a popular evergreen. The plant bears whitish to pink flowers, which then ripen into bright red fleshy fruits.
According to tradition, the leaves were chewed by the American Indians to increase their lung capacity to benefit their running. They used it also to solve dental problems.
Mixed with carrier oil, specially johannis herbs oil, it unfolds its warming properties during a massage and can beneficially support the relief of stressed skin. After physical activity, it creates a pleasantly relaxed, warm feeling and cares for the stressed areas of the skin.
It is said that the plant has blood circulation-enhancing, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
The main chemical component of wintergreen is methyl salicylate.
Be aware of hypersensitivity to salicylates. Likewise, the essential oil of wintergreen is not suitable during pregnancy, for small children or for epileptics.
